Abstract

The article analyzes the activities of the joint-stock company SGK-Novosibirsk, which is a major emitter of greenhouse gases in the Novosibirsk region with a 91.8% share in the Energy sector of the regional carbon cadastre of the Novosibirsk region for 2017-2020. The analyzed company operates five thermal power plants, which use Khakass and Kansk-Achinsk grades of coal as the main fuel for combustion. The total greenhouse gas emissions for each facility for the 7-year period from 2018 to 2024 and the carbon intensity of electricity production for each facility for 2024 are calculated. The differences in methodological guidelines for calculating greenhouse gas emissions at the level of the national cadastre, regional cadastre and reporting of the regulated organization are considered. The main directions of reducing greenhouse gas emissions are analyzed, presented in information and technical reference books of the best available technologies. Estimates of the economic and climatic effects of using the best available technologies at the analyzed facilities are made.
